One way to talk about tough issues in a way that your kids will listen and learn is to maintain openness to your children. Do all you can to convey to your children that you are open and available to hear their questions on any topic at any time.

And you know that if the children sense  that their parents are closed to them and their concerns, they will seek answer  from their peers and frequently acquire inaccurate information.

Before giving advice or counsel, be sure you know what you are talking about.

To be effective in giving  advice or counsel, you have to establish yourself as an expert on the subject in the eyes of your child, that is, a person  with superior knowledge and/or experience.

Also listen to our Teens if they have their own knowledge about the topic that has been brought by.

it's much better if you educate yourself first in order for you to educate your kids. in this way your kids won't have to look for advice on other people which can possibly give them the wrong informations.
